It’s time to ramble in one of the oldest weaver’s vicinity in the city of artisans to explore the art of weaving, which is taken as one of the oldest art from pre Buddha era. Silk & Carpet weaving are major manufacturing industries in Varanasi. Varanasi is known throughout India for its production of carpets and also very fine silk and Brocade work.
Weaving is typically done by the weavers within their household, and most weavers in Varanasi are Momin Ansari Muslims. Many of Varanasi's Muslim families belong to weaver community that is known by the name of Ansari, which means "helper" in Arabic. From generations they are passing their craft from father to son. The Indian Brides & girls have dream of wearing Varanasi silk Saree on the wedding and other auspicious occasions.
